Jenni Guenther - Saylesville Elementary School, Rubicon Jenni Guenther is a second grade teacher at Saylesville elementary school in Rubicon, Wisconsin. Jenni has taught there for the past twelve years. She is an invaluable component to both Saylesville School and our community. She steps outside the role of teaching and goes beyond; getting to know not just the students, but also their families. When there is a concern that is interfering with their academic, social, or personal growth, Jenni does not follow the typical 7:30 – 3:30 schedule. She will go to the child’s home and collaborate with the family to address the needs for this child. Jenni instills both the internal assets and external assets into the daily routine of the classroom. The class opens and ends the day together as a method of community building. They learn how to work together appropriately, support each other's ideas, and develop a sense of empathy. Jenni has high expectations for her students and makes sure she defines and sets appropriate boundaries for her classroom. Children truly enjoy being in her class, developing an enthusiasm for learning. Jenni is a high energy person who possesses a genuine nature to care about others, her family, school, and the community. Throughout the ‘06-’07 school year, Jenni has participated in developing a program that will begin next year to help students come together and increase the sense of community. On “Wildcat Wednesday’s” students will breakout into 9 different “Prides” comprised of students K-8, a parent, and two staff members to complete activities or projects that promotes teamwork and an additional character trait. This program shows her initiative and leadership to incorporate assets into our youth. Not only does she put in many additional hours at school, but she also volunteers her time as a Sunday school teacher. On top of all her activities, Jenni and her husband have three young children. Whether you are a student, staff member or parent you feel that Jenni will be there for you and support your actions 100%. We couldn’t ask for anything more in a small school and community.
