Youth of the Month

Kaycie Kutschenreuter

Kaycie Kutschenreuter has been chosen as Hartford Project Care’s Youth of the Month for a number of reasons. Kaycie is a sixteen year old junior at Hartford Union High School. Kaycie places a great deal of emphasis on helping others and her community. Not only has Kaycie taken a rigorous schedule at the high, but she seems to get involved in just about every other aspect of the school.

Kaycie is a member of the HUHS tennis team and National Honor Society. She is a reporter for the HUHS school newspaper, Orange & Black. Kaycie was a founder for the HUHS chapter of Amnesty International and is currently Co- president. Kaycie is a firm believer of informing the community of global issues and human rights needs. Much of Kaycie’s time is spent in a volunteer capacity. She has been an active member of Hartford Project Care for the past year and a half. When we need people to help get things done, we can always count on Kaycie. Kaycie has also given her time to work at the Rec Center middle school dances, elementary school Study Buddy/Tutoring, and Students Mentoring Students.

As Kaycie stated it best, her avocation is to “help people.”

Asset Builder of the Month

Julie Wolf

Julie Wolf has been chosen as Hartford Project Care’s Asset Builder of the month for numerous reasons. Julie Wolf is a wife and mother of four sons. She provides a high level of love and support to her family. She is an active member in her church, including youth education. Julie is a community minded person who puts her time where her beliefs lie.

Julie recently left her job at the Washington County Council on AODA after working there for the past four years. While at the Council, Julie worked tirelessly to make our schools and community better places. Julie was one of the founding members of Hartford Project Care in response to an identified need to address the apparent at-risk behavior in our youth. As part of her job, Julie helped organize and chaperone middle school dances and high school coffee houses. She dedicated a lot of time to both the TAG (Teen Action Group) in the middle school and Peers 4 Peers at the high school. Julie taught parenting classes for parents of middle school youth and smoking cessation classes at the high school.

Julie values youths’ opinions and ideas. She gives youth useful roles in their community, teaching them the importance of giving back to the community. Julie would involve the youth in having them help plan their activities and participate in the tobacco compliance checks. She has high expectations for youth and provides the necessary encouragement for them to do well.

We will miss Julie as an active member of Hartford Project Care, but have no doubt than when time allows she will remain involved.

We welcome any input you may have on selecting deserving award winners. Please email us to nominate a youth or any individual or business/organization you consider to be an Asset Builder. We will use your input when selecting the award winners during our monthly meetings. It is our belief that it is important to recognize those who are positively affecting our community by building the 40 Developmental Assets™ in the young people in the Hartford area.
