SERVICES: The Washington County Health Department is a level II health department formally reviewed by the Wisconsin Department of Health and Family Services, Division of Public Health, on May 27, 1999. A state team determined that the requirements of HFS 140.07 (4) were met and the designation of Level II was granted on February 25, 2000, for up to five years. Nine vans provide shared ride taxi service within the city limits or 3 miles outside the city limit for an additional charge. Requests for service must be called into the office with a guideline of a half hour “window” time for pick-up (ex. If you request the van at 11:00, it may arrive between 11:00 and 11:30). Anchorage Program is a dual-diagnosed (chemical dependency-mental illness-inpatient treatment) program, that is part of child and adolescent serviced at WMHI. The prospective patient must have a documented history of substance abuse/mental illness and in most cases exhausted community placement options. Referrals come from all 72 counties in Wisconsin. Patients are accepted as voluntary treatment cases or through the Chapter 51 commitment process. All admissions must be approved /authorized through the county’s Chapter 51. Anchorage is a secure treatment unit for patients between the ages of 13-17. Average length of stay is 90 days. The longer length of stay allows Anchorage to successfully treat some patients who have failed at shorter term/less intense treatments. Patients are accepted on a voluntary or committed status. The overall goal for each patient is to begin the recovery process by accepting their chemical dependency - mental illness using the 12 step program.
SOAR Program: This is an adolescent admissions unit,(920) 235-4910 ext. 2279. Included on Sherman Hall Eight is a dual diagnosis chemical use and mental health disorder treatment program, which can treat eight to ten patients. This program is called Seeking Opportunities for Advancement in Recovery (SOAR). The program consists of five phases, each requiring the patient to demonstrate increased personal responsibility for their treatment and recovery. The phases also provide increasing privileges consistent with the patients progress in treatment. Average length of stay is 30 to 90 days depending upon their needs.

SERVICES: This program is designed to assist substance abusing women and their families achieve meaningful recovery from chemical abuse and dependency. The program will serve up to 12 women and families at one time, with an expected 90-180 day length of participation. Treatment will address the multi-faceted issues that are barriers to positive transition.
